George Owens Died - first report from Marylyn King 12-22-07

I'm sorry to have to send you this message. Georgeann was at the calling for Don Dunkerly yesterday. At noon she had taken George to the Heart Hospital and he had told her that she was to come to the calling for Don that he was ok. What sent him to the hospital was pain in left arm and tingling in his left hand. So she came to the funeral home and several of us told her to go up and talk to Waneta and for her to get back to the hospital. Georgeann called Don and I about 8:30 this a.m. this morning to tell us that George had passed away. They were planning to head to Florida Thursday. In fact yesterday, they had their children and families at their home to visit before they headed south.

I don't know any arrangements yet, but I will send them as soon as I know something.

There were many people at the calling for Don. Most had to wait 1 hour to 1 hour and a half to visit with Waneta and her family. There were also many people at the funeral at the church. Very nice service. There was a time when individuals could give their thoughts about Don and his life. Many complementary comments were made.

All for now. Marilyn

Georgeann just called to tell me the arrangements for George.

Wednesday, 4 -8:00 calling
Thursday 11:00 is the funeral at Flanner Buchanan on Carmel Drive.

George and Georgeann' s address at home is 735 College Way, Carmel, IN 46032
Phone 317-846-8308

Don Dunkerly Died

Hello Classmates,

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Don Dunkerly passed away this evening about 5:00 at St. Vincent's Hospital.

He had a bout with cancer in Feb. and had a reoccurrence (sp?) a few weeks ago. He had gone to the hospital a week ago today (Oct. 12). They found more lesions and he just kept getting worse and they moved him to Hospice Tuesday afternoon.

The calling will probably be Sunday and the funeral Monday morning. Waneta and family will be going to make arrangements tomorrow morning.

I know she would appreciate a card. Natalia and I have talked about it and we will make arrangements for flowers from our class.

Call if you wish, my number is 317-846-0803.

Thanks, Marilyn

RE: Dale Graham Death (See below)

 Dear Classmates,

There is a very nice article about Dale Graham in today's Star. For those of you who are out of town, you can read it online at www.CarmelStar.com.

I've been contacted by Skip Peters and Verne Williamson wanting to know if our class was going to send flowers, etc. I hadn't planned on sending anything, but if somebody has any ideas on what we could do, please let me know.

Sincerely,

Waneta

Fellow Staff Members:

It is with great sadness that I send this email. Dale Graham,  former teacher, coach and 25-year principal at Carmel High School,  passed away this morning at 5:50 a.m. As you may know, Dale's  doctor told his family on Wednesday that Dale had only a few days
to live. The edema that had plagued him since his surgery was  simply too much for his body. He developed congestive heart  failure and his organs began shutting down. His wife Irma, and his  daughter Barb, were with Dale yesterday and last night. Dale was
in and out of consciousness yesterday and he passed away very  peacefully this morning.

I do not know arrangements at this time but I will send them in an  all-staff email as soon as I get them. You may want to check your  email over the weekend. Please keep Dale's family in your  thoughts and prayers.

Waneta;
Just a note about Chuck. We have been home 6 months now. He is too
weak to walk alone but with a walker and me holding on he can walk a little. He is in
the wheelchair most of the time. He is eating very good and we are getting the feeding
tube removed the first of June. He looks good, good color and his weight is good and
his hair has grown back. He is confused some. He knows me most of the time now.
When he was on chemo he didn't know me as much. There is no cancer or tumor at
the present time.
We have lived here 2 years but he doesn't remember our home. He tells me
everyday that he wants us to go home. He is as sweet as always and very easy to care
for. He never gives me any trouble.
God is teaching me from Matthew 11:28-30 that He wants to carry the
weight of our burdens. And that makes our life much better. Our kids are great to support us in any ways we need. They come and help me and bring food or whatever.
So we are blessed.........Jackie Wise

This is an update from Jim Garrettson about Dale Graham (former principal of CHS) who has been fighting several health problems lately.

I talked to Barbara, youngest daughter, last night. Dale is still in hospital but doing better. Good days and bad days. His sugar is now under control. He still has problems keeping food down and is being given a protein supplement. He is also undergoing some therapy. Some really good news was that during the surgery they found no cancer. The surgery he had last December to remove tumors from his bladder had found cancer but they got all of it. All they found this second time were pre cancerous conditions. They anticipated that going in. This blood infection seems to be the problem now.

Dale told Judy he wants to get better and get out of the hospital, so he's fighting.

Next week is Dale's 81st birthday, and I think he'd be encouraged if he received lots of birthday cards, so if you can send him a card.

Again, his address is:

Waneta forward this to us 3-30-07 in Reference to Charles Wise
From: Jackie L Wise <jackielwise@juno.com>

Dear Friends; Just an update on our Oncologist appointment Wednesday.
Chuck is now on his second day of the 5th month of chemo. One more month to go.
The doctor told us that he has never been positive that the 4 spots on Chuck's body were cancer.
The other Oncologist said they were. This doctor said that these 6 months of chemo was a preventive measure against cancer in the brain returning. I ask him after this chemo is over could the cancer return in the brain? He said yes.
Please put on your calendar April 24th to pray for Chuck from 10:30am. to 1:30p.m. He is going to have a Pet/Ct scan of the whole body to check for cancer. The problem
is that the first 2 hours he has to sit in a recliner in a room by himself. If he were mentally alright, this wouldn't be a problem. But he thinks he can walk, drive and etc. If he should start to get up he could hurt himself. They will not let me go in or anyone else. The room is radiation and lead in the walls. There will be a camera on him but the nurse has other patients that they are also watching and they will watch Chuck but not every minute. Of course I was very upset with this news.
I called a dear friend and we talked about Ps.37:3-7 teaching us "how to" Trust. So again I am giving our Lord total responsibility for Chuck. He is in control anyway and will do what is best for Chuck.
Thank you again for praying. Jackie
4-31/07
Dear Friends; Just a note to let you know that our girls, Tammy and Terrie and I have talked and we have decided not to have the Pet Scan for Chuck. He just couldn't
be in a room by himself for 2 hours and not know or understand why he was there. In fact
the one doctor doesn't think that it was necessary he was just going along with the
other one.
I pray we have made the right decision. Thank you all for being here for us, Jackie
